Age Relaxation Guidelines for Reserved Categories – JKSSB Recruitment

Candidates belonging to reserved categories and domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir are eligible for age relaxation in the upper age limit, as per government rules and regulations. Important Note: Candidates seeking this age relaxation must provide the necessary certificates during the selection process, whenever required by the JKSSB.

  • Reserved category candidates domiciled in J&K are entitled to age relaxation under government guidelines.

JK Police SI Recruitment Age Relaxation

Reservation and Relaxation –

Reservation & Relaxation will be given to only reserved & Special categories Candidates of Only J& K State Domicile as per government rules and regulations. Reservation guidelines as laid down by Government of India from time to time for reserved and special category shall be followed.  Candidates claiming reservation under reserved categories should submit certificate as per the Govt. Prescribed format issued from the competent certifying authority.

Exam /Test Date /Centre –  

The J& K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) shall notify the dates for examination and the venue/ centres of examination separately. The details shall be made available on the website of the board i.e. www.jkssb.nic.in. No representation / request for change in this regard shall be entertained, whatsoever be the reason. The Examination Details will be uploaded on the official website of the Board. Examination Details/ Roll number slips will not be issued by India Post for any stage of examination. Therefore, candidates are advised to visit the official website of board regularly for updates and information about the examination.

Exam Pattern – 

Scheme of Examination – 

(I) Written Examination – 

  • (a) The Examination will consist of Objective type Multiple choice Questions. The questions will be set in English Language only.
  • (b) There will be Negative Marking for each wrong answer to the extent of one-fourth of marks assigned to that question.
  • (c) In terms of SO 290 dated 20/08/2021 of Home Department, the candidates possessing National Cadet Corps (NCC) Certificate shall be awarded bonus marks at the following scales –
  • (i) 5% of the maximum marks of the examination for NCC “C” Certificate holders.
  • (ii) 3% of the maximum marks of the examination for NCC “B” Certificate holders.
  • (iii) 2% of the maximum marks of the examination for NCC “A” Certificate holders.

(II) Physical Standard Test (PST)  –  The candidates shall be shortlisted for appearing
in the physical standard test on the basis of written test which shall be six times the total number of vacancies to be filled up in each category. The shortlisted candidates should meet the following physical standards:

a) For Males:

  • i) Height: 5′-6″ (minimum)
  • ii) Chest girth: 32″ (unexpanded)
  • iii) Chest girth: 33 1⁄2″ (expanded)

b) For Females:

  • Height: 5′-2″ (minimum)
  • (i) Provided that for the candidates belonging to the Gorkha Community, the minimum Height shall be relaxable by 2″.
  • (ii) Provided that for the candidates belonging to the Bot Tribe, the minimum Height shall be relaxable by 2″. (S.O. 343 dated 21.06.2024 of Home Department).

(III) Physical Endurance Test (PET): The candidates who meet the above physical standards shall be required to undergo physical endurance test, which shall consist of the following:
A) I) For Male candidates

  • Long Race: 1600 meters in 6 1⁄2 minutes (Six minutes thirty seconds)
  • Pushups: 20 (one cycle of up and down to be counted as one)

(II) For Female Candidates – 

  • Long Race – 1000 Meters in 6.5 Minutes (Six Minutes and thirty seconds)
  • Shot Put (4 Kgs) – 14.5 Feet in three attempts.

Note – Check official notification for special provisions regarding relaxation in physical endurance test for ExSM. The Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test shall be of qualifying nature only.

(C) Medical Examination – The selected candidates, with reference to the vacancies , will be medically examined to assess their physical and medical fitness.
